Achievements
  • IGNOU Regional Centre, Lucknow bagged the 1st Gold Medal for the Best Service instituted in the year 2004 by the University and within a span of five years, it also received the 2nd Gold Medal for Best Service Award during 20th Convocation held on 28th February 2009.
  • IGNOU Regional Centre, Lucknow developed a proposal to enrol U.P. Police Department personnel for pursuing IGNOU’s Certificate in Anti Human Trafficking (CAHT) Programme. After many rounds of deliberations, a letter was issued by the ADG, U.P. to all Superintendants of Police (SSPs) of U.P. to nominate at least five Police officials from each district to pursue this programme of IGNOU. Police personnel have already started enrolling in this Programme w.e.f. July 2013 session. Training Directorate, Uttar Pradesh Police has proposed to reimburse the fees from the funds earmarked for the training on successful completion of this Programme. The Training Directorate has also linked this course with the Juvenile Justice Act 2000 and has proposed that the candidates successfully completing this Programme would be posted in Special Juvenile Police Unit formed in every District for the protection of Juvenile Rights.
  • State Level Nodal Agency of Integrated Watershed Management Programme, Govt. of U.P. has sponsored officials working in SLDC, WCDC & WDT Projects of the Government in one-year Diploma in Watershed Management (DWM) Programme of IGNOU in collaboration with the Regional Centre, Lucknow. Seventy nine (79) admissions have been done in July 2013 session.
  • Regional Centre, Lucknow won a litigation, which was being fought for two and a half years against the imposition of 4% Value Added Tax (VAT) on the cost of IGNOU prospectus being sold by the Regional Centre and its study centres. This VAT was imposed retrospectively from Financial Year 2008-09 by the Trade Tax Department, Govt. of U.P. The litigation was taken up at various levels of 1st appeal, 2nd appeal, Trade Tax Tribunal & Hon’ble High Court and finally, the judgment came in favour of IGNOU which was exempted from paying any kind of VAT on sale of prospectus.
  • IGNOU Regional Centre, Lucknow has established Special Study Centres in Jails for jail inmates at Model Jail - Lucknow (2755D), Central Jail - Bareilly (27177D) and District Jail - Jhansi (27200D) where support services are being provided to the jail inmates enrolled in various Programmes of IGNOU.
  • Four learners of BPP under IGNOU Regional Centre, Lucknow are part of “World Tour on foot” programme. They have already covered 2,73,000 kms on foot in countries such as India, Nepal, China, Thailand, Myanmar, Pakistan etc. They are propagating information about IGNOU and its significance in today's educational scenario wherever they are going and hence are acting as ambassadors of IGNOU. Their feat is already recognized by Guinness Book of World Records and Limca Book of Records. A documentary on this has also been made by the channel “Discovery”. Their campaign was started by former Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi at Kheri district of U.P. on 30th July, 1980.
